I have become quite a fan of Max Factor. I was a little late to the party when it came to trying their products but I have been pretty happy with the ones I have tried. So you can imagine my delight when I received a box of Max Factor goodies through a special offer in Boots. In it I received the Max Factor False Lash Effect 24 Hour Mascara (among other things) and that is what I am going to review today. I really really wanted to like this product. That’s one of the reasons I have waited so long to review it, I wanted to give it a fair shake when testing it. But to be honest it’s nothing special.
It doesn’t give me that false lash effect that’s promised, the packaging is matt so therefore gets smudges easily making it look dirty, and the wand is too thick. For me it works fine as an everyday mascara due to the fact that it really does do what it says on the tin time wise. It doesn’t budge for 24 hours and then some. This can be a pain when trying to take it off before bed but at least you don’t run the risk of panda eyes half way through the work day. So just to explain my problem with the wand. I have quite small eyes hence I also have small lashes. The brush is thick and bulky so I find that the product ends up all over my face as well as on my lashes. This could just be clumsiness on my part but I think with a thinner more elegant want, it would be easier to use and I wouldn’t have to fix the rest of my makeup after I do my lashes.
All in all it’s an ok mascara. I won’t be running out to repurchase it and it’s not one of my favourites but as long lasting mascara’s go it’s pretty good. If you’re looking for an everyday mascara that won’t budge then this could be it, but if you want that flash lash effect you may be disappointed. Have you tried Max Factor’s False Lash Effect 24 Hour Mascara with different results? I’d love to hear what you think, especially about the wand. Please reassure me that it is not just my clumsiness that makes it impossible to us. Leave me a comment below!
