Recently I was introduced to a new app called Guidecentral by a fellow blogger. It’s billed as a “fun and visual way to discover DIY ideas, learn new skills and meet amazing people who share your passions.” Well who doesn’t like DIY and learning new things so I thought I would give it a shot.
It essentially is the app of all apps for anyone who wants to learn anything. If you want to learn how to sew your own scarf, how to make a toffee meringue gateaux, how to crochet a reindeer napkin ring, or if you have a few buttons knocking around that you don’t know what to do with, there’s an app for that. And that app is Guidecentral, all these projects are already online.
My first thought was that it was like Pinterest, and it is, but on Guidecentral you have everything you need. It is a platform where you can share your crafts, recipes, decor, beauty and other life hacks step by step. So instead of clicking on that pin and hoping it will take you to a useful website you can immediately see the materials/ingredients you need and get step by step instructions with pictures all on the one site.
This is a free app but you can join the Maker Program and be paid for the things you post. Every new guide and tip could earn you up to $7 (€5.60) and every more if the community engage with your project. While i’m still playing with this new app, my first impression is that it’s pretty great. I did however have trouble creating my account as the app would not let me sign in through my email or Facebook but did let me sign in through my Twitter account. I’m not sure if this was something wrong with the app or my phone but it may be something to be aware of if you check it out.
If you do decide to check out Guidecentral let me know what you think in the comments below.
