Review: I <3 NYX

Bloggers all over Ireland were overjoyed when American brand NYX arrived on our shores. However, the brand is still only available in selected stores so it can still be hard to get your hands on.

So imagine my glee when I found out that Sam McCauley Chemist in humble little Waterford was going to start stocking the coveted brand. I was over the moon, let me tell you.

Without delay I rushed in and purchased some goodies to try out. I was trying to be on my best behaviour as spending sprees have become too frequent in my life these days so I restricted myself to buying three things. (I know I’m proud of me too!) I destroyed myself with swatches before making a final decision, two lips products and an eye product.

So first I picked up one of their famous butter glosses in Strawberry Parfait. Now as many of you know I am not really a gloss girl, I don’t like the tacky feeling on the lips and i hate the way that any flyaway hair will stick to it. But I heard so many people raving about the NYX butter glosses I had to give it a go. And honestly, I was pleasantly surprised.

It feels comfortable on the lips leaving a shine and slight pink stain without being sticky and tacky. As far as a gloss goes it has good staying power and is easy to apply on the go. It also smells AMAZING! Like a sweet dessert but not so much that you can smell it on your lips. There is just a faint scent when you open the tube. If a gloss hater like me can love these €6.49 glosses then anyone who is remotely likes to use gloss even the odd time will be blown away.

Sticking with lips I fell head over heels in love with my next purchase. I bought the NYX Matte Lipstick in Whipped Caviar. I have been using any excuse to wear this brown toned plum. I know it sounds like a 90s reject colour but it’s not, it’s really gorgeous. This muted plum is something that can be worn during the day to work or with a statement eye for a night on the town.

The creamy formula is just gorgeous and is no way drying on the lips like some affordable matte lipsticks. I will definitely be buying more of these and encourage you to run out and try one. For just €7.49 these lipsticks are a steal.

And my final purchase was the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha. This is a gorgeous slightly metallic colour is perfect for autumn and so easy to use. Just swipe it over you lid for a quick and effortless boost of colour or blend it into the crease and use it as part of a statement smokey eye. The formula is a little sticky and does crease slightly towards the end of the day but I find that this happens with a lot of cream type shadows. For €4.99 these pencils are definitely worth looking at and on the plus side they are perfect for popping in your purse if you want to reapply throughout the day.

Since trying out these NYX products I have had to restrain myself from going back for more but I have a feeling that restraint won’t last long. All that is left to say is please please please NYX make your product available throughout the whole of Ireland and make some Irish cailini incredibly happy!
