Fanny Crown, The Queen of 60s Style

What pops into your head when you think of the 60s. For me peace, love, music and the mini skirt all come to mind. Now as many of you know I am vintage obsessed! And in my mind one of the most revolutionary items in fashion was the mini. Not only did women no longer have to dress like their mothers but for the first time young people were leading the fashion stakes.

They adopted the mini as their wardrobe staple. The mini wasn’t (and isn’t) just clothing, it’s freedom, independence, and most of all fun. Once supermodel Twiggy adopted it as her trademark look the mini exploded onto the fashion scene and has never really left. And that is why I take my inspiration from this revolutionary and fun loving era that really shaped how we dress today.

I have chosen to style this gorgeous high neck, gold, cocktail minidress from Fanny Crown. Fanny Crown will tailor the dress to your measurements, even if you order in a standard size. This makes each dress a fabulous fit and perfect for every shape. They also ship worldwide!.

This dress is perfect for a great night out or a red carpet event. It is so versatile and you can dress it up or down depending on your mood. For a glamorous night on the town I’d pair it with these fabulous black and gold t-bar, diamante loop sandals from Debenhams. These retail for €39 and will pick up the black detail in the dress.

I kept the accessories simple with this black and gold lace twist lock clutch (€16) from New Look. The lace detail contrasts nicely with the sparkle of the minidress and the colour keeps the gold from being overpowering. The bangles (again black and gold, are you sensing a theme here) are also from New Look (€7.57). I think stacking these seven bangles will give the outfit a little bit of edge and complete this look beautifully.

Next on to make up. For this I would keep my make up simple with a pop of glamour to finish off the 60s look. I love Benefit’s Stay Flawless 15-hour Primer. The solid stick of product glides easily onto the skin and keeps everything in place while you dance under the disco ball. For a foundation I always fall back on my tried and tested Lancome Teint Miracle. This product gives great coverage and while it is a bit on the pricey side it is worth every penny.

For eyes, you can’t go wrong with Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette. These gorgeous matt and sparkle shades are sure to finish off this look flawlessly. No night out is complete for me without winged eyeliner. As the dress is the star of the show I would keep the wing small and understated using No 7’s Stay Precise Liquid Liner. For mascara it has to be my new favourite Seventeen Falsifeye HD mascara. This is a bargain and leaves you with long, luscious lashes. For a pop of glamour there is nothing more alluring than a red lip and I’m lusting over Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Pure Colour Lipstick
