Review: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+]

As some of you may already know I have always been a fan of La Roche-Posay. So I was delighted when I received the new Effaclar Duo [+]from a Cara Pharmacy goodie bag. (Yes I am still getting through all the fabulous goodies from the ITWBN meet up, from AGES ago).

So basically this cream is meant to improve blemishes, oiliness and clogged pores in the skin as well as correct and prevent marks. It promises visible results in 24 hours. And to be honest, it does exactly what it says on the tin. If you can feel a pimple coming on (as I so often can) then pop this miracle cream on the little sucker and stop him in his tracks.

I have introduced this into my nightly routine and while my skin is not mark free there has been a great improvement. It comes in a 40ml tube and as you don’t slather it on (well I don’t, if anyone else thinks it works best to layer it on, then leave me a comment below and I’ll give it try) you will get your value for money. This product retails at €17.50 and is worth every cent.

Now for the science bit this formula targets blemishes at every stage of their life cycle. It also targets clogged pores, excess sebum (an oil that stops the skin from drying out), and eliminates acne marks from the moment they start to form. It soothes inflammation caused by bacteria responsible for comedones and inflammatory lesions (pimples to you and me).

It also has anti-pigmentation properties to prevent the risk of excess melanin production. This stops marks forming on the skin. I don’t have any before or after pictures I’m afraid as I totally forgot to take them but believe me this stuff really works! If you have problem skin or are just prone to the odd break-out, I mean who isn’t, then you need this in your life.

Anyone else tried La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+]? Let me know your thought’s in the comments below.

  1. I love it too! I’m on my second tube after the initial (brilliant) Cara goodie bag; I use it as a base in the morning as well as after cleansing at night, which is probably overkill at this stage but was great when beginning, really calmed my skin down a lot, and I do think it has improved the quality and texture of it greatly. Have turned TM onto it too! x CM

    1. It is just so good. Definitely edging into the Holy Grail status! How do you find it as a base though? I used it once under my La Roche-Posay CC Cream and thought the finished look was streaky? I use it after cleansing and toning and find the effects brilliant. Babs x

      1. It’s usually good as a base but you def have to leave it a good few minutes to sink in. If I have time I’ll do primer as well and my foundation (at the mo it’s cheap as chips Catrise mousse!) stays put all day, no mean feat with my sensitive, combination skin! x CM

      2. I’ll have to give it another try as base when I have time to let it sink in to my skin rather than rushing out to work. Catrise mousse you say, I may have to try that too :). Babs x
