Ok guys, I meant to do this post weeks ago and really I have no excuse other than I am lazy! I have so many posts planned and just have not got around to writing any of them up due to work and being out gallivanting. So without further ado here is a quick post on what I wore to my housemates wedding recently.
Those of you who regularly visit my blog will know that I LOVE anything that is vintage or vintage inspired. So when I saw this dress in the window of Amity it took very little encouragement from my mother to go in and try it on. The staff were very friendly even going so far as to take the dress out of the window as the ones in the shop weren’t in my size.
The Jonie Dress is just gorgeous! It is a 1950s rockabilly cut in mint green with a pink floral design. In the product description on the site it says it has a contrasting a-line skirt to the figure hugging bust. And boy is that right. As I was getting ready for the wedding one of the buttons popped off. I think this was just some loose stitching and it was easily fixed in time to rush out the door. (Thanks to my housemate as I can’t sew). But even this minor mishap couldn’t stop me loving everything about this dress.
I love the cut, the colour, the fact that it has a collar. I think it really suits my shape, even if I do say so myself and it is really well made. The material is strong and you get the feeling that even though it is a little on the pricy side, €96, you get what you pay for. If you fancy getting one of your own, you can order it online here.
Now I was very organised and had the dress weeks if not months in advance of the big day. So it came as a bit of surprise to me that the week before the wedding I had nothing to go with it. No shoes, no nothing. Off into Waterford city I went in search of the elusive shoes. I had no idea what type of shoe I wanted or what colour so I was in a bit of a panic. After going into about four shoe shops and seeing nothing I liked, I began to get really worried that I would have to go barefoot.
I was just about to give up when I wandered into Shu4U. I must admit that by this time I was a little flustered and was just seeing a blur of shoes in front of me. Lucky for me one of the girls working there saw my bemused and I am imagining lost looking face and came to my aid. I decided to go with a pink toned nude sandal with gold detail. I’m quite tall so don’t really need a heel even though I love wearing them. So these were perfect. The slight heel gives me the confidence of wearing skyscrapers but I can stay in them all day. They are super comfy and will carry me right through until the end of summer. A bargain for €39.
Finally I decided that out of my million lipsticks I had no lipstick to go with my outfit so off to boots I went. I got this gorgeous Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Pink Blush. Now to be fair and in the interest of justifying this purchase I do not own any pink lipsticks and it goes perfectly with this outfit. This is a gorgeous colour and feels so comfortable on the lips. And just look at it, it had to be bought!
