Finally: Couch to 5k Week 2

Well, it’s finally happened, I have managed to complete my couch to 5k week two regime without interruption from mother nature. WOOHOO!

So week two consisted of the usual five minute warm up, followed by alternating 90 seconds of jogging with two minutes of walking for 20 minutes then your five minute cool down.

Now I really wish I could say this was easy, especially since it has taken me about three weeks to do it properly but in truth it was tough. I didn’t breeze through it the way that I thought I would but at the end of the day I did do it and that is something to be proud of.

So now it’s on to week three which in addition to the five minute warm up and cool down sections includes two repetitions of jogging for 90 seconds, walking for 90 seconds, jogging for 3 minutes and walking for 3 minutes.

I am already not looking forward to this  and think I will need some major motivation but I am going to this. For anyone who is following this post weekly, don’t hold your breath that I will be able to complete this in the next week. In fact I know that I won’t as I have a few commitments this week but I will get at least one if not two sessions of it done this week, and redo the whole three sessions again next week.

Hopefully I won’t have to do it for a third week in a row, again! Wish me luck.

Any other beginner runners out there? Would love to hear how you’re getting on.

Happy running

  1. Yes! I just did the first week two run last night, so I guess I’m about the same stage as you. It went…well, it went ok. But I was disappointed that, with the additional running, I didn’t cover much more distance than I did for the week one runs. Still, it’s all a process of development. I’m not too disheartened. 🙂

    1. I find that I am still running the same route, the same distance but as the weeks go on the amount of time running starts to lengthen and the time walking shortens so don’t get disheartened. Well done on getting up and out there. Would love for you to keep me posted on your progress. Babs x
