What makes a great weekend?

What is it about bank holiday weekends that make everyone so happy?

That extra day off work, the nice weather and that well deserved sleep in are just some of the things that make long weekends the best kind of weekends.

June Bank Holiday is a particularly good weekend. It signals to many the start of the summer and this one seems to have been a great one. The weather was fantastic and there was so much to do.

Summer festivals are now in full swing and I chose to spend my weekend at the Galway Sea Festival.

This is a new festival that celebrates Galway’s status as a maritime city as part The Gathering.

The atmosphere in Galway is always electric and this weekend was no different. The sun was shining, the drink was flowing and the company was as fabulous as ever.

On Sunday night the Roisin Dubh‘s silent disco was the place to be. Dominick Street was closed off and full of dancing people having the time of their lives. While being part of the experience is always a fun watching it is even more entertaining.

As the headphones have two different channels people are listening to different songs at the same time so the dance moves within one group can often be a little out of sync. There is nothing better than seeing two people dancing together, one dancing along to a power ballad and the other bopping along to pop music.

Galway is always a fun place to be but it is even better when you are there with some of your best friends. If you are looking for one thing to do this summer jump into a festival in a new place and let the fun begin!
